Don’t make me come down there, America
Ok, so this post contains information about last night’s American Idol results show. Spoilers follow, you have been warned.
And yes, we’ve crossed some sort of threshold here at this blog. There is no turning back.
Let me start by saying I have never watched American Idol before this season. I’ve watched some of the audition shows in the past, but never had the stomach to watch it once it went Hollyweird Hollywood. This year is different though, all of a sudden I realized I was still watching the show when the live shows began last week. I was laughing at Seacrest. I knew what Simon was going to say before he spoke. What had happened to me?
All this led up to last night, and I was baptized into the Idol ways with a couple of absolute shockers. Well done, America. Some observations:
Was there some sort of injunction to keep Sanjaya on the show just so we didn’t have to experience him singing that song again, and thereby completely creep out 30 million people twice in one week?
Alaina showed a lot of class. And by class I mean bitterness. But that was a nice “Friends are friends ’til Friday” kind of moment now wasn’t it? And you thought she couldn’t sing worse than she did the other night…
Sundance, my man. Pull. It. Together. It’s a good thing you moved around a little, otherwise there would have been a puddle.
Proof positive that this isn’t just a singing competition: Antonella Barba lives to see another week. She’s the worst singer of the girls by far (including Sanjaya).
My picks for who should have gone home? Phil, Sanjaya, Antonella and Alaina. And you?
Oh my gosh, I totally agree! Albeit a little late…

Nor is Sanjaya. I found this site, votefortheworst.com, and I heard people talking about it on the radio. I would bow out if I knew people were voting for me even though they knew I wasn’t the best. Anyway, good post. I actually knew what you were talking about!
